I had the chance to design some much needed merch for Minerva, the creative advertising portfolio program at the University of Alabama.

My process
I first created the sketch on the left out of my brain as is and people liked it so I made stickers. A year later I was asked to make sweatshirts which I’ll walk you through now.
I wanted to use elements that are unique to the program including the Sharpies and papers we used for every project and out college in the background.
For step 2 I wanted to use the smoke font, but in this case we needed to use the logo font for Minerva to maintain brand recognition.
In step 3 we took out Minerva and added our “tag” which gave me more room to be creative with font. And the chicken leg (inside joke) being held up looks like a lightbulb so took that out.
Lastly, added some shadowing, filled in the Sharpies, and added the paper. This image is for the back of the sweatshirt.
